My name is Yolandi la Grange and I am a classically-trained pianist and singer based in the southern suburbs in Cape Town.

I perform a wide variety of genres for events, and I am a well-regarded piano teacher in Cape Town too.

Music is more than just a profession for me; it’s a way to connect and express myself. Whether I’m performing or teaching, my aim is to create memorable experiences and to leave you feeling fulfilled and moved. I am always seeking to infuse my own interpretation into the pieces I perform, and when I’m not at my piano, you can find me  working on arrangements, teaching aspiring musicians, or observing the latest music trends.

I believe in the power of music to inspire and uplift, and I am so excited to share my passion with you.

When I grew up, the radio was on all the time and my mom was always singing. My life began with music.

At the age of 5, my parents bought a piano, and it was then that I decided instead of being a train driver one day, I’d be a pianist. I found my voice at that piano.

That little girl’s dream became a reality after I obtained degrees in Classical Piano and Singing. With a solid foundation in piano and in vocal techniques, I thrive on bringing music to life by both performing and teaching piano in Cape Town. My formal training has given me a deep understanding of classical repertoire, but I love to experiment with contemporary styles and genres.

Whether performing in intimate settings or on larger stages, I want to connect with my audience through the emotional power of music. I believe every note tells a story and I want to share that story with you!

I have over twenty years' teaching experience with piano and singing.

I’ve got a lighthearted and kind approach to lessons: lots of fun and learning without the pressure. I structure music lessons according to the needs of each student. Each lesson is tailor-made just for you.

I teach from school-going age to the retired, and cater to all skill levels from beginners to advanced. I cover all styles and aspects of piano, including theory, and I have a strong focus on efficient technique. But most importantly, I try to foster a love for the piano and making music.

In recent years I’ve also taught myself, and others, to play the ukulele and have used that to teach students how to sing songs while accompanying themselves.

I am based in Kenilworth, in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, and divide my time between my home studio and teaching at schools.

EVENTS

As a Cape Town based pianist and singer, classical music remains my number one love, and I really enjoy playing Bach, Chopin and Debussy! It has a strong influence on how I interpret everything else. Pop and jazz songs are transformed into my own lyrical style: a fusion of timeless & contemporary, piano & voice.

With over ten years experience playing in the hotels of Cape Town I am well experienced at providing elegant music for events. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate gathering, or intimate celebration, I create a warm and inviting atmosphere with a carefully curated selection of classical pieces and contemporary favourites.

As a pianist, I like to tailor my performances to suit the vibe of the event, ensuring that each experience feels unique and memorable. There is nothing quite like seeing guests respond to the music. It’s one of the most rewarding aspects of what I do.
